Method
How to tie the uni knot
- 1Pass the tag end through the eye and lay it back alongside the standing line, leaving a long tag.
- 2Form a loop by laying the tag end over both strands.
- 3Wrap the tag end around the two lines and through the loop 5–7 times for mono, 7–8 for braid.
- 4Moisten the wraps and pull the tag end to snug the coils together, without fully tightening against the eye yet.
- 5Pull the standing line to slide the finished knot down to the eye.
- 6Trim the tag end.
Work on a flat surface with enough line in your hand to pull the knot down firmly, and check the wraps sit neatly before you trim anything away.
