How the rig works
Unlike all other methods, the line provides the casting weight. That lets you present tiny imitations of insects delicately, and drift them at the same speed as the current so they look natural.
Tarpon behaviour
Eats crabs, shrimp and baitfish; often rolls at the surface to gulp air.
Warm coastal waters, passes, bridges, bays, mangrove rivers and even brackish canals in Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

- A heavy abrasion-resistant leader is essential - the mouth is rough like sandpaper.
- Lower the rod tip when a tarpon jumps ("bow to the king") so it can't shake the hook.
- Keep large tarpon in the water; many areas have strict handling rules.
