Spring
Spawn in rivers and over rocky shoals soon after ice-out; seasons may be closed during the spawn.
Summer
Move deeper by day; low light and night fishing over structure is most productive.
Autumn
Feed actively as water cools — trolling and jigging along breaks work well.
Winter
A popular ice-fishing target, especially at dawn and dusk.
