How it works
With nothing blocking the hook point, the hook can rotate and catch hold in the fish's bottom lip as the carp ejects the bait. It is the reason modern carp fishing converts so many more bites into hooked fish.

- 12–15 lb main line; coated braid or fluorocarbon hooklink

- Size 4–8 wide-gape or curve-shank carp hook

- Boilie, pellet or corn mounted with a bait stop
