Spring
The coarse closed season applies on rivers in England and Wales from mid-March to mid-June.
Summer
Prime time - shoals feed near the surface in warm, still weather.
Autumn
Still catchable on mild days; fish move a little deeper as water cools.
Winter
Sluggish; best on mild afternoons with small baits fished slowly.
Timing varies by location
Seasons are for temperate Northern Hemisphere waters; in the Southern Hemisphere spring falls around September–November. Latitude, altitude and each year's weather shift timing. Closed seasons and size limits vary - always check local rules.
