Spring
On rivers in England and Wales the coarse closed season applies from mid-March to mid-June.
Summer
Big shoals feed well, often best at dawn, dusk and into the night.
Autumn
Shoals remain catchable with feeder tactics and plenty of groundbait.
Winter
Shoals pack into deeper water; feed sparingly and fish mild, overcast days.
