Spring

Grilse (one-sea-winter fish) run in summer; fresh water after rain triggers movement.
Autumn
Often the main run on many rivers, with fish colouring up before spawning.
Winter
Most rivers are closed. Catch-and-release is mandatory on many waters — always check the river's rules.
